Kat & Sam
Monmouth, Wales
Sam and Kat’s wedding was an absolute treat to shoot—set against the stunning backdrop of the Welsh countryside, it honestly felt like something out of a story, what a joy, not just for me, but for all the guests too.
The day started in the most relaxed and gorgeous way at the house, where the girls were getting ready. The sun was shining, champagne was flowing, and there was such a chilled, holiday-staycation vibe in the air. Kat looked incredible in her dress and Carvela shoes, which had the sweetest little daisy detail, such a perfect, playful touch. And her bridesmaids were dressed in fresh coral, they brought a pop of colour that tied in so beautifully with the vibrant peonies arranged perfectly by Wye Valley Flowers in the bouquets and scattered throughout the day. Now, I don’t need to tell you how much I love it when a couple includes their dog in the celebrations and the family pup Wilma absolutely stole the show. The sweetest little guest, trotting around and having a sunbathe wherever she saw fit…including on the brides train.
When I arrived at the church, it was already buzzing with life, guests spilling out of the pub across the road, pints in hand, basking in the sunshine. Is there anything better on a wedding day? Sam looked so sharp in his blue velvet tux—it added such a cool twist to the classic groom look. After the ceremony, guests hopped aboard the most charming vintage Bristol buses (courtesy of Chepstow Classic Buses). There’s just something about those retro rides, people either feel a wave of nostalgia or just love the novelty of it, and the laughter onboard said it all.
The reception was held back at Kat’s family home, where the views over the rolling Welsh valleys were nothing short of magical. With a glass of Pimm’s in hand and that view? Bliss. Prickly Pear Catering absolutely smashed it—the food was faultless from start to finish. Mouthwatering canapés, a proper feast for the main event, and not a single guest left hungry. Just the way it should be.
Sam and Kat’s wedding was full of love, colour, laughter (and a few happy tears, of course). It all came together so perfectly under the watchful eye of Melaine Jane Events, whose planning services were impeccable. As always so great to work alongside great friend Will Wood Productions, we had a blast and feel very lucky to be a part of this day.
Personal Highlight:
The pièce de résistance: a profiterole tower stacked on a giant dessert tower—an absolute showstopper, which the couple crowned by pouring hot chocolate sauce over the top before cutting the cake later in the evening. New tradition unlocked!
