Hannah & Ollie
BrightoN
It’s always an honor when I get asked to shoot a wedding for friends of the family (or should I say, I'm friends with the family – you know what I mean!). But Hannah & Ollie’s big day… That was something extra special. I’ve known Hannah for as long as I can remember, so getting to watch her marry Ollie, with their adorable son Reuben right there beside them, was honestly such a joy. Cue me trying not to cry behind the camera…spoiler…I failed.
The day kicked off at a seafront hotel in Brighton, where Hannah was getting glammed up with her mum and besties. Enter the power duo that is Becky Cooper and Becky Howie – the Beckys, as I now like to call them. Hair and makeup dream team and just all-round delightful humans. One of the best things about traveling a bit further afield for weddings is getting to work with new (to me) suppliers, and these two were an absolute treat. Hannah looked absolutely stunning in her dress, and everything tied together so beautifully with her bright, joyful bouquet by Blossom and Bee Floristry.
Now, being proud Brightonians, Hannah & Ollie chose to tie the knot at their own town hall, keeping it intimate surrounded by just close family and friends. It also happened to be the hottest day of the year so far, and Brighton was absolutely buzzing. The streets were packed, the beer gardens overflowing, and the whole place had this incredible energy. After the ceremony, the newlyweds took a stroll through the city and were met with constant cheers and congratulations from total strangers – it was like the whole of Brighton was in on the celebration.
And then onto the after party. Ohhh boy, The Jolly Sportsman in Lewes. What. A. Spot. Nestled at the foot of the South Downs this place is a hidden gem and the perfect spot to kick off the festivities properly. The couple arrived in style, greeted by a flurry of confetti and the smiling faces of all their guests. Drinks were flowing, the sun was blazing, and Go2 Entertainment started things off with some brilliant live sax that set the perfect laid-back tone. And just when people were settling in, the full band kicked off under the gorgeous open stretch tent and boom, the dance floor was full before dinner was even served. That’s how you know it’s a good party!
Personal Highlight:
Apart from the incredibly powerful air con courtesy of our legendary driver on the way out of Brighton, THE moment for me was when the sun went down and everyone was still dancing under the festoon lights. Hannah and Ollie were absolutely beaming, and I couldn’t help but well up…this is what it’s all about.
